Business Development Officer

Job Overview
AZA GREEN LOGISTICS ("AZAGL") is a Canadian-based consultancy with a forward-looking vision to bridge international markets through strategic partnerships and sectoral expertise. We are currently seeking a Business Development Officer for Business Development & Cross-Border Strategy to lead our strategic market expansion efforts. This role is pivotal in identifying high-potential sectors, cultivating partnerships across South East Asian markets, and positioning AZAGL as a trusted advisor to both Canadian and Southeast Asian organizations. The role is entrepreneurial in nature and offers wide-ranging strategic autonomy. It also includes the potential to launch and scale a regional office in Southeast Asia, supporting local hiring and long-term client engagement.


Eligibility Requirement

This position is open only to individuals who are legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application (i.e., Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents). AZAGL does not currently sponsor Canadian work permits. If the role requires relocation to Southeast Asia, AZAGL will support and arrange the necessary work permits in the destination country.

Experience

Relevant experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered asset

  1. Business development, international expansion, or cross-border partnership strategy
  2. Market research, sector analysis, or new market entry planning
  3. Collaboration with private companies, government agencies, or trade associations in emerging markets
  4. Project execution or consultancy work in startup or high-growth environments
  5. Exposure to Southeast Asian markets is considered an asset
  6. Familiarity with regional business culture and/or proficiency in local languages is highly valued


Education

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Economics, or a related field
  2. Additional certifications in global strategy, entrepreneurship, or trade policy are considered assets


On Site

  1. May be based in Canada with regular travel to Southeast Asia, or
  2. May be relocated internationally by AZAGL
  3. The role requires physical presence for meetings, relationship building, and project development


Work Setting

  1. Startup/entrepreneurial environment
  2. Flexible hours to support multiple time zones
  3. Frequent collaboration with in-region partners and Canadian leadership
  4. Long-term goal to establish and manage an AZAGL Southeast Asia office


Responsibilities

  1. Identify and evaluate high-potential sectors for AZAGL to explore or enter within Southeast Asia
  2. Build and maintain relationships with businesses, industry bodies, and government stakeholders
  3. Discover and develop cross-border partnership opportunities between Southeast Asia and Canada
  4. Provide market insights and support Southeast Asian companies interested in Canadian market access
  5. Represent AZAGL at business forums, international expos, and cross-border networking events
  6. Draft strategic proposals, briefing notes, and partnership documents
  7. Lead planning and operational setup for a future regional office, including local team recruitment
  8. Provide regular insights and strategic reporting to Canadian leadership
  9. Advise on business customs, regulatory environments, and localization strategy
  10. Proactively engage with diverse industries to identify unmet needs and propose AZAGL's consultancy or intermediary services, connecting clients across trade, shipping, HR, and IT sectors
  11. Explore and develop new business verticals or service areas aligned with AZAGL's cross-border vision and client demands


Employment Conditions

  1. Full-time (typically 30+ hours/week), permanent
  2. This position is expected to work flexible hours and may occasionally exceed 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week, in accordance with applicable employment standards and overtime regulations.
  3. Hybrid or international field-based role
  4. Flexible hours to accommodate global work
  5. Domestic and international travel required
  6. Long-term overseas posting possible 


Work Authorization

  1. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application (i.e., Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).
  2. If the role involves relocation to Southeast Asia, AZAGL will arrange and sponsor the necessary work permits in the destination country.
  3. Familiarity with Southeast Asian markets—such as prior residence, dual residency,      regional work experience, or cross-cultural fluency—will be considered a valuable      asset in this role, particularly given its international scope.


Hiring Process & Interview Disclosure

  3. All interviewed candidates will be informed of the hiring outcome within 45 days of their final interview.

Compensation

This is a performance-driven role with a base monthly compensation ranging from $2500 to $4900 depending on experience, qualifications, and results achieved. Entry-level candidates may start at the lower end of the range, while high-performing individuals who demonstrate leadership in expanding business opportunities — especially across international markets — may progress rapidly toward the top bracket. Commission incentives and stock/share options may be available based on milestones and revenue contributions.
